2024 City on the Rise

HELPFUL TIP: INCREASE YOUR CITY RATINGS SCORE BY INCREASING STATE AND LOCAL FUNDING FOR BIKE INFRASTRUCTURE

In 2020, Austin voters approved one of the country’s most influential general obligation bonds, Proposition B, which contained $460 million in funding for transportation infrastructure, including sidewalks, bikeways, and safety projects. With the help of PeopleForBikes’ Final Mile program, Austin built 100 miles of new bikeways in just two years. Thanks to these investments alongside the support of city leadership, Austin improved its City Ratings score from just 13 in 2020 to 34 in 2024. State and local funding for bike infrastructure is critical to increasing City Ratings scores by creating great bike networks that get more people riding bikes more often. Learn how to secure state and local funding for bike infrastructure here.
